QUESTIONS ABOUT FUNDRAISING

Q: What is the Jimmy Fund and Dana-Farber Cancer Institute?
A: The Jimmy Fund solely supports Boston's Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, raising funds for adult and pediatric cancer care and research to improve the chances of survival for cancer patients around the world. Since 1948, the generosity of millions of people has helped the Jimmy Fund save countless lives and reduce the burden of cancer for patients and families worldwide. The Jimmy Fund is the official charity of the Boston Red Sox, Massachusetts Chiefs of Police Association, the Pan-Massachusetts Challenge, and the Variety Children's Charity of New England.

Q: What is the fundraising agreement?
A: Your registration information will be processed after you agree to the following policy:

"In consideration of the acceptance of my registration in the 2017 John Hancock Fenway Fantasy Day to benefit the Jimmy Fund, I agree to collect the fundraising minimum (Registration Fee NOT included) of $2,250/Full Inning, $1,800/Pinch Hitter, or $700/Golden Glove for the benefit of the Jimmy Fund and to be personally responsible for the difference if I fail to collect the required funds. The deadline for receipt of the minimum amount is two weeks after the event date. I understand that the outstanding balance toward the fundraising minimum will be charged to my credit card if I have not met this requirement by the deadline."

Q: If I set my fundraising goal higher than the minimum, will I be held responsible for the extra money?
A: While we do encourage you to aim high and raise as much as you can towards our mission to strike out cancer, we will only hold you responsible for the required fundraising minimum, regardless of the goal you set for yourself.

Q: If I raise more than the fundraising minimum can I apply the difference to next year's event?
A: No. All revenue raised during the 2017 John Hancock Fenway Fantasy Day season (Oct. 2016 - Sept. 2017) will be applied towards the 2017 event.

Q: Can I hold a fundraiser to raise money for my John Hancock Fenway Fantasy Day team? Will the Jimmy Fund help me organize something?
A: If you are planning to organize a party, opportunity drawing, or any type of event or special project as a fundraising initiative, please contact the Jimmy Fund at least four weeks prior to your event. We would be happy to assist you in any way possible and want to ensure that we have all your information on hand should we receive any inquiries regarding your generous efforts on our behalf.

Q: How do I enter non-credit card gifts on my fundraising page?
A: For the most up to date information on your personal fundraising page, we do encourage online gifts via credit card. If your supporters prefer to write a check, please collect the checks and submit them to us at:

The Jimmy Fund
John Hancock Fenway Fantasy Day
10 Brookline Place West, 6th Floor
Brookline, MA 02445

Once the gifts are processed, we will update your personal web page with the gifts we have received. If there is a specific way that you would like a donor to be recognized on your Honor Roll, please include a note with the submission.

Please note: Due to the high volume of gifts it may take some time for your gift to be processed and to appear on your personal fundraising page.

Q: If my supporters give me cash gifts, how do I submit them?
If your supporters give you cash, please convert it into a money order and mail it in along with your team name and supporter’s contact information as they’d like to be listed on your website.

Also, please be aware that if you receive multiple cash gifts, and you would like individual donors to be recognized on your Honor Roll, they must be submitted as money orders. Only one person can be recognized per gift.

Please note: For all checks mailed in, please include your NAME, ADDRESS, and PARTICIPANT NAME on the outside of the envelope. This will ensure you are properly credited for your fundraising efforts.

Q: What do I do if people make a check out to me instead of to the Jimmy Fund?
A: If your supporters make a check out to you personally, rather than to the Jimmy Fund, you can sign the original over to us. To sign it over, you just need to endorse the back "Pay to the Order of the Jimmy Fund" and sign your name.

Q: Where do I send gifts made by check?
A: Please make checks payable to the Jimmy Fund. You can send any checks you collect to:

The Jimmy Fund
John Hancock Fenway Fantasy Day
10 Brookline Place West, 6th Floor
Brookline, MA 02445

In order to make sure you are properly credited for your fundraising efforts, please include your NAME, ADDRESS, and PARTICIPANT NAME on the outside of the envelope. Also, if you are submitting gifts on behalf of another player, please include these monies in a separate envelope with the appropriate information to avoid confusion.

Please note: Due to the high volume of gifts it may take some time for your gift to be processed and to appear on your personal fundraising page.

Q: How do my supporters submit a matching gift form?
A: Many employers have programs for matching a portion of a gift—some even double or triple gifts made by employees to charities. Most companies have their own policies and procedures to determine a particular charity's eligibility to receive a matching gift. Donors can check in with their Human Resources department for more information about how to have a gift matched.

If the original gift is made online, please have your supporter(s) print out the email confirmation received upon making the gift and mail it in with the matching gift form to:

The Jimmy Fund
John Hancock Fenway Fantasy Day
10 Brookline Place West, 6th Floor
Brookline, MA 02445

Alternatively, if your supporter(s) makes their gift online, and their company has an electronic gift submission program, please have them email the confirmations of both their gift and their matching gift submission to FantasyDay@dfci.harvard.edu.

If your supporter(s) would like to match a gift they make by check, please have them mail the matching gift form along with their gift to the address above. Many employers' matching gift forms require the following information:

Tax ID Number: 042263040
Contact Name: Donor Services
Address: The Jimmy Fund
                  John Hancock Fenway Fantasy Day
10 Brookline Place West, 6th Floor

Q: Does a matching gift count toward my minimum?

A: Yes. Once we have received the gift and a matching gift form, the matching gift will be credited to your total fundraising total. Matching gifts are a great way to boost your fundraising while supporting the lifesaving mission of Dana-Farber!

Q: How do I customize my personal fundraising page?
